Well, I have to say I am glad I am done with Christmas Cookies, as much as I love the season, I am tired of decorating, Trees, Stars, Mittens, Snow Flakes and everything else I decorated as Christmas Cookies this year. So as I attempted to 1/2 my recipe, and of course needed to decide what to bake with that 1/2 recipe of cookies. I settled on some hearts in preparation for Valentine's Day, some Summer Bugs, and made up some Circles and Snow Flakes to send out. Didn't think the recipient would want pastel Hearts and Butterflies from me as I was once upon a time his boss. My mom is here visiting, and well being the Art teacher that she is she convinced me to "dry brush" on a cookie for decoration. I enjoyed it, I still have a lot more practice to do. I also tried making roses out of icing, this was my first "successful" attempt, as the roses didn't just turn out into a big pile of frosting, you could tell that they were roses. After I snapped a picture of the heart with roses I attempted to "dry brush" pink on the top of the roses to give it a little more character.

Little Elves
Well my three little elves were busy today delivering the last of our Christmas Cookies, we had one more request so we set to baking and with the help of my 3 little elves delivered cookies to the Hospital today as well as the Post Office for a surprise for a friend. Of course the treat won't make it before Christmas but they should be a sweet surprise on Monday.
We also started thinking about summer after all those winter/Christmas cookies so we made up some strawberry cookies, and we even made up some chocolate royal icing to make chocolate dipped strawberry cookies.

Santa Moons and Christmas Cookies
My friend Karen let me look at a book from the library called "Cookie Craft Christmas" by Valerie Peterson and Janice Fryer. I used their idea for my "Santa Moon" as my 5 year old calls them. I use a moon cookie cutter and well you can guess the rest.
The Christmas Cookies are some that I donated to the Myca's Childcare Auction. These are an example of the 2 dozen cookies were in a silent Auction, and the YMCA earned $35.00 for their childcare to purchase new toys.

Holiday and Weddings
I just finished baking Christmas Tree Cookies and Snowflake Cookies that will be on display at the Door County YMCA for the Childcare Auction. I am donating 2 dozen holiday cookies, and the Auction starts today. I am making up some sample Wedding cookie designs for someone who "might" be interested in giving cookies as a party favor for their wedding...the colors aren't exact as I have only spoken with the future Mother-in-Law regarding this, but these are to give the bride an idea of what she could possibly do.

Leaf Cookies
So we made up some leaf cookies, in "fall colors" and mostly just what I wanted to do. I experimented with some new techniques, but overall am happy with the outcome. We're set to deliver the cookies in a few hours, but am most excited to see the reaction. It's always a good sign for me when my husband is impressed.
