Baby and Packers

It was a busy week here.  Some dear friends of ours just had a new baby.  I love showering families with cookies when their new bundle is born.  I especially like to make the older siblings feel important as most of the focus is on the new little person.  I delivered these to the family yesterday.

I also made another Packer cake, very fitting as the big Super Bowl 45 is tomorrow.  It was my second time making this chocolate cake with butter cream frosting in-between the two layers which is then covered with marshmallow fondant.  The entire process of this cake was smooth from start to finish which was very welcome after the headache the last one gave me.

  1. The cake looks much, much smoother. I'd say your fondant skills are soaring!

I just saw Loren use the "shooting star" cutter to make a dozen roses this week, too! I thought to myself, "I'll have to look for that type of cutter!" That, and she inspired me to try royal icing roses - she made it look easy!

  2. I was going for something similar to Loren's, in the middle of making those, I got an aura/migraine in my right eye. Needless to say they weren't what I had hoped they would be. But I figured what new mom doesn't love flowers.
I’m growing in my confidence with my fondant…picking up “tips” as I go. :)

  3. So far, my Hobby Lobby doesn't carry that Wilton set of cutters. I'm hoping that closer to the 4th & Memorial Day, they will. That, and I'm thinking that one day, if I find myself bored, I'll just make up tons of little roses.

Of course, it's hard to find a day that I'm "bored," too!

  4. The cake was great! I wish I could have gotten a picture of my son's face when he first saw it. He loved it! Thanks!!

  5. Glad he enjoyed it, was your husband able to choke down a piece of cake or is he still holding out for his Steeler's cake? :)
